Passengers booking Uber, Ola or Rapido from busy stations like Howrah and Sealdah are often asked to pay extra parking or station charges before the journey begins. But passengers should know the difference between an official applicable fee and an arbitrary demand.
Uber’s terms mention applicable parking fees, tolls, taxes and route-specific charges. Ola also lists toll and parking fees when applicable. Rapido may similarly have ride-related charges.
However, this does not mean drivers can demand any amount they choose.
Ask what the charge is for, request proof or a receipt, and check the app’s fare breakdown before paying. If the demand seems unreasonable, report it through the respective app.
