Google Unveils Pixel 11 Series With Major Camera and AI Upgrades

Google has officially unveiled its new Pixel 11 smartphone lineup, introducing the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL with upgraded cameras, a refined design and deeper Gemini AI integration. The new phones are powered by Google’s latest Tensor G6 chip, which is designed to deliver faster performance and more advanced on-device AI capabilities.

Refined Design and Improved Durability

The Pixel 11 series retains Google’s distinctive camera-bar design but brings several refinements. On the standard Pixel 11, the camera bar has been made 40% thinner, making the phone more comfortable to carry and reducing wobbling when placed on flat surfaces.

The Pixel 11 features an Actua display with a satin metal frame and polished glass back. It will be available in Pistachio, Hibiscus, Frost and Obsidian colours.

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL feature brighter Super Actua displays reaching up to 3,600 nits. Google has also introduced a new anti-scratch coating that it says provides more than twice the scratch resistance of the previous generation.

The Pro models come in Canyon, Fog, Olive and matte Obsidian finishes.

Major Camera Upgrades

Camera performance is one of the biggest improvements in the Pixel 11 lineup.

The standard Pixel 11 gets a new, larger 48MP main sensor with 56% higher light sensitivity. Google says this should improve photography and video recording, particularly in low-light conditions.

The phone’s 5x telephoto lens also supports up to 30x Super Zoom, with Tensor G6 helping power the computational photography behind the feature.

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL receive further camera upgrades, including a new main sensor and an upgraded 48MP telephoto camera. The telephoto sensor offers 30% more light sensitivity and supports Portrait Mode at 5x zoom.

The Pro models also introduce Pro Zoom up to 120x. Google has improved Night Sight as well, with the company saying low-light photography can now be captured up to 4.5 times faster while maintaining image quality.

Tensor G6 Brings Faster AI Performance

The new Google Tensor G6 chip powers the entire Pixel 11 series and is designed specifically around AI and everyday smartphone performance.

Google says the upgraded CPU can deliver up to 25% faster web browsing and 15% faster app launches. The chip also has 50% more TPU computing power and works with the latest Gemini Nano model.

According to Google, Tensor G6 can process certain on-device AI tasks up to 3.5 times faster while using up to 3.5 times less energy.

The processor also works alongside Google’s Titan M3 security chip, with Google introducing post-quantum cryptography for secure boot to strengthen device security.

HiLight Adds a New Way to Receive Notifications

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL introduce a new feature called HiLight.

HiLight uses coloured LED lights around the rear camera flash to provide notifications without requiring users to look at the display.

Different light patterns can indicate when Gemini is listening, processing a request or responding. Users can also assign custom colours to important contacts for incoming calls.

Google says additional HiLight features are expected to be introduced over time, including notifications for messages from selected contacts.

Faster Charging and Long-Term Software Support

The Pixel 11 lineup comes with 256GB of starting storage and supports Google’s Pixelsnap ecosystem.

The Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro support Qi 2.2 wireless charging at up to 25W. The Pixel 11 Pro XL also receives faster wired charging, with Google claiming that 15 minutes of charging can provide up to 15 hours of battery life.

Google has also committed to seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates for the new phones.

Pixel 11 Series Availability

The Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are now available for pre-order, with the devices scheduled to reach the Google Store and retail partners on August 20, 2026.

With major camera improvements, the new Tensor G6 processor, expanded Gemini capabilities and new features such as HiLight, Google is positioning the Pixel 11 series as one of its most AI-focused smartphone generations yet.
