Election Commission Imposes Motorcycle Restrictions to Ensure Free and Fair Polls
Ahead of the upcoming elections, the Election Commission has introduced a set of guidelines restricting the use of motorcycles in an effort to maintain peace, security, and transparency during the polling process. These measures will come into effect two days prior to the voting date.
As per the directive, motorcycle movement will be permitted only between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Any use of motorcycles outside these hours will be strictly restricted. The Commission believes that limiting nighttime movement will reduce the risk of unlawful activities, as monitoring becomes more difficult after dark.

In addition, the rules prohibit carrying passengers on motorcycles during this period. Only the rider will be allowed on the vehicle. This step has been taken to prevent the misuse of motorcycles for distributing cash, liquor, or other inducements that could influence voters.
To ensure strict implementation, law enforcement agencies will conduct regular checks and set up checkpoints at key locations. Police personnel will inspect vehicles and patrol areas to ensure compliance with the guidelines.
The Election Commission emphasised that these measures are essential to uphold the integrity of the electoral process. While acknowledging that some citizens may find the restrictions inconvenient, the Commission stated that such steps are necessary to prevent malpractice and ensure a peaceful voting environment.
Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities, follow the rules, and plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconvenience. The Commission remains committed to conducting elections that are safe, transparent, and free from undue influence.
