Canada is battling one of its most severe wildfire seasons, with more than 850 active wildfires burning across several provinces, including Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. Officials report that over 100 of the fires remain out of control, forcing evacuations and stretching firefighting resources.
Smoke from the fires has spread far beyond Canada’s borders, causing hazardous air quality across parts of the United States, including New York, Chicago, Detroit, and Washington, D.C. Health authorities have advised residents, especially children, older adults, and people with respiratory conditions, to limit outdoor activities and wear protective masks when necessary.
