Commercial LPG cylinders have become more expensive across several Indian cities from October 1, 2026, adding to the operating costs of restaurants, hotels, caterers and other businesses during the festive season. However, there has been no change in the price of the 14.2-kg LPG cylinders used by households.
According to the latest revision by state-owned oil marketing companies, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased by ₹62.50 to ₹2,810. The increase varies from city to city, with some markets recording a hike of as much as ₹71.50. In Patna, for example, the 19-kg commercial cylinder has increased by ₹71.50 to ₹3,100.50.
Kolkata has also seen a significant increase. The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has risen by ₹70 to ₹2,954 from October 1. The increase comes just before the Durga Puja and wider festive season, when demand from food businesses and catering services generally rises.
In contrast, domestic LPG prices have been kept unchanged. The 14.2-kg household cylinder continues to cost ₹942 in Delhi. Domestic LPG prices were not included in this month’s increase, providing some relief to household consumers.
The latest commercial LPG revision is linked to movements in international energy prices and currency exchange rates. Commercial LPG prices are reviewed monthly and can vary between cities because of factors including local taxes.
The increase is expected to be felt most directly by businesses that depend heavily on commercial cooking gas. Restaurants, hotels, bakeries, caterers, roadside food outlets and other establishments may face higher operating expenses as a result of the latest price revision. In turn, businesses may reassess their costs and pricing during the busy festive period.
The latest increase follows a smaller ₹9.50 rise in commercial LPG prices in September. Before that, commercial cylinder prices had fallen sharply in July and August after reaching high levels earlier in the year amid disruptions in global energy supplies.
For ordinary household consumers, however, the October 1 revision does not change the price of the regular 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder. The latest move therefore primarily affects commercial users rather than household kitchens.
