A deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300, marking one of the deadliest assaults on Saudi territory in more than a decade. Saudi authorities have blamed Yemen’s Houthi rebels for the strike.
According to Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, the victims included Saudi citizens and foreign nationals from several countries, including Bangladesh and the United States. Airport operations were suspended as authorities assessed the damage and addressed security concerns. The attack followed several earlier strikes targeting the airport and aviation facilities during the same week.
The incident has heightened fears of a wider regional conflict, as hostilities between the Houthis and Saudi-backed forces in Yemen intensify. The Saudi-led coalition has condemned the attack, while international leaders have expressed concern over the growing threat to civilian infrastructure and air travel.
