August 10, 2026: The Jharkhand Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairperson L Khiangte over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the commission.
The arrest comes a day after all three JPSC members resigned amid large-scale protests by students and job aspirants demanding action over alleged discrepancies in recruitment examinations.
The controversy has triggered strong reactions among aspirants, who have been protesting in Ranchi and demanding a transparent investigation into the examination process. Students have also raised questions over the conduct of recruitment tests and called for accountability from those responsible.
