The Jharkhand government has agreed to cancel three recruitment examinations, including the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Preliminary Examination, amid continuing protests by job aspirants in Ranchi.
However, protesting students have refused to call off their agitation. They are demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment examination process. Students have said their protest will continue until the government accepts their demand for an independent investigation.
The issue has triggered a major protest by aspirants, who have raised questions over the conduct of recruitment examinations and demanded transparency in the selection process. Despite discussions between student representatives and the state government, the disagreement over the investigating agency remains unresolved.
On Monday, hundreds of students and job aspirants marched towards the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi. Police deployed heavy security and erected barricades to stop the protesters from reaching the Assembly premises. The situation reportedly became tense as protesters attempted to cross the security barriers.
The government has maintained that several demands raised by the students have been addressed. However, the protesters have argued that cancelling the examinations alone is not enough and that the alleged irregularities must be investigated independently.
The controversy has also intensified following the arrest of former JPSC chairman L. Khiangte by the Jharkhand CID in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.
With students continuing their agitation, the state government now faces pressure to find a solution to the deadlock. The key issue remains whether the government will agree to the students’ demand for a CBI investigation.
